I have been working with bariatric patients for about 5 years. Over the years some of their biggest complaints are:
They don't have an appetite for food so they don't eat very often.
They're doing everything that they've been doing since the beginning.... but now their weight loss has stopped and they're not at their goal weight.
Or worse yet..... they're noticing that they're starting to put the weight back on!
What I realized from doing hundreds of body composition test is that most post bariatric patients are losing the wrong kink of weight! The scale is a combination of the amount of muscle, fat and water that you have. Just because you see the number going down on the scale doesn't mean this is progress.
That's when I decided I needed to educate post bariatric patients on what to do to lose the right kind of weight... and... what to do to keep the weight off!
If you are losing muscle.... you now have slowed down your metabolism. The more muscle you have the more calories you will burn through out the day.... the less muscle mass you have, the less calories you will burn in a day
The Key is to lose the right kind of weight. You want to maintain muscle but get rid of excess water and fat.
So I began to educate myself. I watched how bariatric surgery affected different ages and different body types, learning what would actually work for them and why the things they’d tried in the past didn’t work.
I implemented all of the principles I learned from my research....
And it worked: The patients were finally able to start losing the weight for good and felt amazing!!
This was my turning point.
After this, I realized I HAD to help other people who have had bariatric surgery! Its not only eating less food... there is a real thing that needs to be address so you have more energy, permanent weight loss and better health!
